The Sunset Limited este drama mistuitoare a doi bărbați, doi străini a căror întâlnire întâmplătoare, în circumstanțe grave, este tratată cu un amestec de umor și patos. Povestealui Cormac McCarthy se concentrează pe două caractere complet diferite – un fost deținut de culoare, profund religios care oprește tentativa de sinucidere a unui profesor universitar alb, antisocial, care încercasesă se arunce în fața unui metrou la stația Sunset Limited. În timp ce primul încearcă să inițieze o conexiune la nivel rațional, spiritual și emoțional, celălalt rămâne puternic pe poziție în disperarea lui profundă. În timp ce dezbaterea lor filozofică progresează, fiecare luptă cu pasiune să-și argumenteze și apere opiniile, în același timp încercând să îl aducă pe celălalt de partea sa.

The Sunset Limited is a searing, two character drama that mixes humor and pathos while examining the relationship between two strangers who are brought together by desperate circumstances. The story focuses on two very different men – a deeply religious black ex-con who thwarts the suicide attempt of an asocial white college professor, who tried to throw himself in front of an oncoming subway train, the Sunset Limited. As the one attempts to connect on a rational, spiritual and emotional level, the other remains steadfast in his hard-earned despair. As their philosophical debate progresses, each spar passionately to defend their personal credo and convert the other.
